We believe the best eyecare comes from the best people and the best technology. That's why we invest in advanced diagnostic tools like optical coherence tomography (OCT) and Optomap retinal imaging to provide our patients with comprehensive eye exams.
Optomap & OCT
In December 2022, we launched our brand new Optomap retinal imaging machine. Again, this is a first for Blackburn’s high street. While the 3D-OCT allows us to view and image layers below the surface of the retina, the Optomap allows us to view and image a wider area of the retina. Optomap captures up to 82% of the retina whereas a standard fundus photo will only capture around 15%.
Humphrey Perimetry
At Tyrrells and Embery Opticians, we utilise advanced technology like the Humphrey Visual Field Analyser to thoroughly evaluate patients’ vision and eye health.
The Humphrey Machine is an essential tool for testing the complete visual field, going beyond standard acuity charts to identify areas of weakened vision or blind spots. It is globally considered to be the ‘gold standard’ of visual field assessment.
Using computerised technology and interactive light testing, we can pinpoint optical issues and diseases like glaucoma with more accuracy than ever before. The Humphrey field analyser offers a detailed map of your vision, highlighting any abnormalities or changes from baseline tests.
